Five texts, one source.

Centre EPÉU publishes and reissues the texts its teaching rests upon. These are not commentaries or popularisations: they are the sources themselves, in the translations that carry authority.

Before choosing

All these books are in French only.

EPUB is the format of e-readers and phones. The text reflows to fit your screen: you choose the type size, the typeface, the brightness. It reads on Kobo, Vivlio and PocketBook readers, and on iPhone, iPad, Android or computer with Apple Books, Google Play Books or Calibre. On a Kindle, use “Send to Kindle”, which converts the file.

PDF is the typeset page, as it would be printed: A5 format, clickable table of contents, a layout that does not shift from one device to another. For reading on a computer or tablet, or for printing at home.

Purchase and payment take place on Mr Mischa Harmeijer’s site, where Éditions Pongh! publish these works. The file is made available as soon as payment is made. Every copy bears its buyer’s name: it is sold for personal use, and redistribution is not permitted. These books are in French.

The hermetic books were born in Alexandria, where Greeks, Egyptians and Jews met. Attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, they were written in the first centuries of our era, and held throughout the Renaissance to be the oldest wisdom in the world. In them one reads the prophecy of Egypt’s abandonment, in which Ménard recognises “a supreme and sorrowful protest of expiring paganism against inevitable destiny”.

It opens on Hermes Trismegistus and the Kybalion, then moves from thought to psychic culture, to pure mental treatment, to spiritual treatment, and closes on self-treatment. This is the whole book, five hundred and thirty-four numbered paragraphs in three parts: not to be confused with the General Survey below, which is the short text of his address of the same year.

It is an episode of the Mahâbhârata. About to give battle, Arjuna sees his own teachers and kin facing him, and lets his bow fall; Krishna, who drives his chariot, answers him. Senart translates without commenting, and warns against the generalisations that make the poem say what it does not say. The text is established from the facsimile of the 1922 edition, borrowing nothing from its later reissues. The book is in French.

Published anonymously in Chicago in 1908 and attributed to William Walker Atkinson, the Kybalion sets out the seven Hermetic principles, from the mental universe to the axioms. This translation is made from the English alone, borrowing nothing from existing French translations. The printed book remains in the catalogue, below. The book is in French.
