The Mental Treatment

A protocol of inner restructuring, directed personally by Mischa Harmeijer.

6 days · full individual retreat · Château de Villereglan

You have tried. Tried a great deal.

You have consulted. Perhaps several therapists, over several years. You have done EMDR, cognitive therapies, sometimes more radical retreats. You may have taken antidepressants, or refused them. You have read books. You know how to name what is wrong.

And yet, something in you is still not repaired.

The same thoughts return. The same automatic reactions fire when the same spot is pressed. The same blocks reappear in another situation, in another form, but it is exactly the same thing. You see it. You understand intellectually what is happening. But it changes nothing.

Or perhaps you are going through a turning point right now. A divorce no one saw coming. A bereavement. A burnout that will not end. A separation that changes everything. A question that arises, at a certain moment in your life: what do I do with what remains?

You sense that everything inside must be reorganised before you can begin again. But you do not know how, or with whom. The therapies available seem too slow to you. Meditation retreats, too gentle. Coaches, too superficial. You are looking for something deeper, more structured, more serious — something that goes all the way down.

The diagnosis

The problem is not your story. It is your structure.

What resists is not the events of your life. It is the mechanisms that settled in around them and keep turning even when the events are long behind you.

As long as these mechanisms are not seen with clarity, they continue to govern. You can talk about them for hours, understand them, name them — they continue. Because talking about a mechanism does not dismantle it.

Seeing it directly, in its exact logic, in silence, without interference, without any attempt to solve it — that is what dismantles it.

This is exactly what ordinary life never allows. Too much noise. Too much stimulation. Too many distractions. Too many other people to manage.

To see what truly inhabits you, you must step entirely out of the flow — and that is very difficult to do alone.

Residential programme

This is what the Mental Treatment offers.

6 days · €2,800

Six days in complete retreat, at Centre EPÉU. A private room. Twenty-one hours a day alone, without a phone, without a screen, without outside contact. Specific nutrition. Total silence. Complete physiological sobriety.

And every day, sessions with Mischa Harmeijer in person, who individually directs your restructuring.

The setting is not a decorative constraint. It is the principal instrument. It is what makes visible what was invisible. Without this stripping away, the same mechanisms you have carried for years would simply remain active, exactly as they do at home.

The work rests on a method developed by Mischa Harmeijer from a philosophy older than modern psychology. An approach whose principles were long known, but which he entirely rebuilt so that it could apply today, within the precise residential setting of Centre EPÉU.

This method is taught nowhere else. Centre EPÉU is the only place in Europe where the Mental Treatment is delivered in this form. No other practitioner, no other establishment offers this protocol.

The approach does not seek to analyse indefinitely, nor to repair through compensation. It seeks to bring light directly onto the inner structures — and to let clarity do what no amount of talking ever will.

When a mechanism is perceived with clarity, order re-establishes itself. The whole process rests on this principle.

The setting

What this is not

This protocol is not a wellness retreat. Not a restorative stay. Not a contemplative experience. Not psychotherapy. Not a medical act.

It is not the saviour of your life. Mischa Harmeijer does not take charge of your existence — he gives you the tools to take it back. The commitment comes from you, entirely, from the first day to the last.

And it is not for everyone. The programme excludes certain situations that call for a different kind of support:

  • Active addictions
  • Ongoing psychiatric care without the agreement of the treating professional

Ongoing psychotropic treatment

The protocol is not compatible with any ongoing psychotropic treatment, whatever it may be: antidepressant, anxiolytic, sleeping medication, mood stabiliser, antipsychotic.

Never stop a treatment in order to become eligible. The Centre does not ask anyone to change, reduce or stop a treatment. Any decision of this kind rests exclusively with your doctor.

If this concerns you, raise it during your assessment interview. Other approaches offered by the Centre may suit you.

In the event of suicidal thoughts or immediate risk, this protocol is not suitable — call 15 or 3114 immediately.

The first step

An assessment interview with Mischa Harmeijer.

Admission to the Mental Treatment never happens by simple registration. It always begins with an assessment interview with Mischa Harmeijer.

During this interview, Mischa Harmeijer listens, observes, reads the structure you carry. He assesses whether the Mental Treatment is the right answer for you, at this precise moment of your life. If it is not, he tells you clearly — and directs you towards what will be more fitting for you.

If admission is confirmed, a date is set. The programme is prepared in advance, in the weeks preceding your arrival at the Centre.

The number of Mental Treatments conducted each month is strictly limited. Not to create an artificial scarcity — but because this work demands Mischa Harmeijer's full availability, and no one can direct several restructurings at once.

First step

Request an assessment interview

The interview takes place at Centre EPÉU or by videoconference. It is booked online.

Request an assessment interview

The Mental Treatment belongs exclusively to a process of cognitive and perceptive structuring. It constitutes neither a medical act, nor psychotherapy, nor a care programme. If medical or psychiatric care is ongoing, the written agreement of the treating professional is required before any admission.

Your questions

Is this for everyone?

No — a prior interview determines whether this is the right response for you, at this point in your life.

What if it's not a good fit?

Mischa Harmeijer directs you towards a more suitable option for your situation.

Where does the assessment interview take place?

At Centre EPÉU or by videoconference. It is booked online: request an assessment interview.

How long does the Mental Treatment last?

6 days, in full residence at the Château de Villereglan.

What is the fee?

€2,800, full residential stay.

In what language is it conducted?

An individual protocol: it can be conducted in French, Dutch or English.

Can I keep my phone?

No: it is surrendered on arrival and kept until the end of the stay. An emergency channel for relatives is provided, via the office.

Is it a therapy or a medical act?

Neither: a process of cognitive and perceptive structuring. The Mental Treatment belongs to psychism — see the structure of consciousness. If medical or psychiatric care is ongoing, the written agreement of the treating professional is required.

Medical support

A general practitioner at your side.

Centre EPÉU works with Dr Séverine Jalet, general practitioner, homeopath and acupuncturist. This collaboration allows coherent support for those whose situation requires medical follow-up alongside our approach.

When a consultation is necessary

Some of the programmes offered by the Centre may require a prior medical check-up. If your situation calls for it, an appointment with Dr Jalet will be requested before the work begins.

If you are currently in therapy or under the supervision of a psychiatrist, medical agreement is required.

Looking for a general practitioner?

If you do not have a regular doctor, or if you are looking for a practitioner open to complementary approaches, Dr Jalet receives at her practice for consultations in general medicine, homeopathy and acupuncture.
